D.I.Y. CD sleeves

Thats right they are here. CD sleeves you can make your self. Simply download the pdf that contains front and back album art. Print it out on any standard 8.5 by 11 inch good quality paper. Cut out with scissors, fold and glue. It's easy and you get to use those CD-r's that have been laying around on your desk because you bought that i-pod 3 years ago so you wouldn't look like a loser in front of your friends using that old Walkman CD player while wearing your sweat bans around your wrists and fore head sweating to the beats of some demo D.J. set CD that you picked up at the local record store only because it was marked down from $2 to $1 and it had a sweet cover on it(whew). Well if that's the case. We have better CD covers.

First off, what is a "Ionosonde"? Well it's a scientific apparatus that measures the reflectivity of the ionosphere, you know the outer layer of the Earth that protect us humans from harmfully cosmic rays such as X and Gamma rays. So, how do you measure a major urban areas rate of decay? What bench mark do you use, Berlin or maybe Detroit ? Well if your a scientists that wants the most decayed and the most problematic city, it would seem the most logical choice would be Detroit.
Taking a walk in downtown Detroit after hours you will see and hear a dieing and decaying metropolis. The few soles that are around are too few to be counted on one hand. Their expressionless faces tells story's of disheartened content of the surroundings. The back alleys behind the empty dance halls which once cultivated Detroit techno, are now only explored by hungry rats. Skyscraper building (that for now are empty) only scrape un-used space.
Telegraphy's "Ionosonde" is a 25 minute scientific measurement of a decaying downtown Detroit. Based on three field recordings by Telegraphy. 1: A alley in Downtown Detroit at night. 2: 3am in the middle of town. 3: Cold overcast day on the 4th floor of the abandon Fisher Body Plant.

"It was in the bush"

Happy pagan new year from metal-oxide-malfunction. Even though we do not condone nor do we associate with the pagan religion, we thought it would be proper to release this one on Halloween. This of course by resident artist Telegraphy, goes in a different direction that we are use to. With spoken word poetry and sprinkled with field recordings Telegraphy takes a 15 min brake from the "normal" experimental music seen and goes avant-garde on all of us.

Atwater kent model 10a

By far the oldest radio I had repaired. The Atwater kent model 10a is a TRF
(tuned radio frequency). This was a popular design before the advent of the more sensitive and selective super heterodyne radio. I only had to replace one of the audio amplifier tubes and do a bit of cleaning. As far as I know, it probably hasn't been turned on in over 70 years.

Elley wanys music

Mio, MI, 2010

My annual trip to Mio Michigan 2010. This is a compilation of motion photography and stills of the family and friends trip up north. It is also a music video that I made from the "Continuity" album by Monopole which is released on Cyclene records. The track title is "Pink and fuzzy shrapnel".

I thought she was the one video

An excerpt from the title track "I thought she was the one" by Telegraphy.

MOM-006

By my self" is a multi faceted project which encompasses an abandon factory on Detroit's eastside. Spending two consecutive days there making field recordings and back & white photography, Richard Sudney a.k.a. Telegraphy manipulates a left over up-right piano and micro samples of his recordings. The over all feel of this extended play track will leave you by your self in an abandon factory, alone, wandering with no constraints.

Compiled recordings of shortwave

Short wave, the radio spectrum between the A.M. and F.M. broadcast bands which is often over looked by must people. This “magic band” provides means of worldwide communications for many of the world’s governments, hobbyist and foreign broadcasters. In this radio spectrum you can here anything from news from around the world to hobbyist conversing about their local culture. But between the numerous transmissions of foreign broadcasters, utility communications and ham radio operators you will sometimes here the unfamiliar sounds of shortwave oddity stations.

These unidentified broadcasters, transmittes their signals of unknown origin to an unknown audience. Some speculate that these stations beam their encrypted messages too individuals who are involved in espionage. Others through hard research postulate that their signals are for more sinister reasons, such as mind control. Some of these stations broadcast an undecipherable string of letters and numbers. Others send out nothing more then just a single letter in Morse code, while others are no more then a pulsating buzzing sound.

For what ever their means and ways, they are truly weird and mysterious broadcasts that are found in between the noise of the “magic band”. The weird and mysterious broadcasts have intrigued Richard Sudney (a.k.a. Telegraphy) for many years. So he took it upon his self to share his fascination with the obscure by recording these stations and releasing them on metal-oxide-malfunction.

Scanning the shortwave band late at night for hours with a vintage cold war military surplus communications receiver, Telegraphy picks out distant weird sounding stations through the noise. “They’ll pop up anywhere at any time”, he says as his hand turns the tuning knob at a slow but constant speed. “I’ll spend hours upon hours hearing nothing but noise and foreign broadcasters, and then when you thought heard enough of pops and crackles though the earphones for one night, there’s the unmistakable sound of a number station or a unidentified data transmission”. Shoving a small pocket voice recorder in front of the receivers speaker he whispers “This is shortwave radio listening at is finest”. Telegraphy will continue to listen late at night for these weird and wonderful broadcasts. In his dimly lit radio room with pocket recorder in hand, he will bring metal-oxide-malfunction more releases of shortwave oddity recordings in the future.

It's a album that is filled with ambient textures that sooths any broken heart individual. The whole idea of this album is to examine the natural human feeling of rejection or devastation on the part of being taken advantage of. From actual accounts in his life, Telegraphy paints a perfect picture in the real life game of love as he sees it.
